A wallet is more than just a money holder—it’s a fashion statement! Follow the directions below to complete this fun craft. Whether it’s a gift for Dad, or your own personal bank account, a homemade, colorful duct tape wallet is durable, creative and flat-out cool.
Beginner
Make a duct tape sheet that is 7 inches long by four strips wide:
· Cut a strip of duct tape that measures 7 inches and lay it sticky side up on your work surface.
· Roll out and cut another strip of duct tape to the same length.
· Place the second 7-inch strip sticky side up so it slightly overlaps the edge of the first strip.
· Repeat until you have four strips overlapping.
· Turn the sheet so the strips run vertically.
· Cut a strip to lay across the sticky-side-up strips. Start at the top and work your way down. These strips get placed sticky side down. Add another strip below the last one. Remember to overlap the edges.
· Continue laying strips sticky side down until all of the sticky sides of the “bottom” strips are covered.
· Trim off edges.
Use a piece of tape about 4 inches long to seal the edge on one of the short sides of the rectangle. Trim off the extra tape.
Fold the wallet in half so the short sides line up. Note: Do this before taping the other side so that the wallet will fold without bulges.
Personalize the wallet with initials, favorite colors, or a personal trademark (such as a fish if Dad loves fishing or use Camouflage Duck Tape® for the Dad who’s a hunter).

That's pretty similar to the way I make my wallets. I figured out how to make them myself-- but if I didn't know how, I don't think I'd be able to learn much by reading this article. The instructions are clear enough, but it's hard to picture what you're doing just by reading them. Sample pictures for each step would be nice, or even a video.**duckin' forever**-kaitlin

It works best if you use a sharp knife to cut the tape. If you use sisors, they will get gummy after a while and won't cut well.

To make the card pockets: you will need a small rectangle of duck tape "fabric" for each pocket. Just attach the piece to the wallet on the sides and bottom. Viola! A pocket! Layer other pockets onto the first one for card pockets.
at school i always make wallets for me so i started a company called waldos wallets

It gets easier to make with more practice. phfatty is right, the instructions should be complete with making the pockets and the billfold for a finished product. These instructions only get you so far as making the internal structure... BUT! Users, you are all smart enough to create your own designs! Innovate your own creations, and make something truly unique.

OK THIS HAS NUTHIN 2 DO WITH A WALET BUT I FOUND OUT THAT IF YOU TAKE A PIECE OF DUCK TAPE AND STICK IT TOGETHER THEN RIP IT APART AS FAST AND HARD AS YOU CAN IT WILL MAKE A SMALL BLUE LIGHT. If you want a cool design on your wallet print out a picture on some thick paper, then open your wallet and turn it so the outside is facing up, then put the picture wherever you want it and use packaging tape to put a clear covering on the wallet which holds the picture in place! Cut off extra and now you have a clear wallet with a cool picture and plus it is water proof!

This is an awesome Wallet- I only made it with the side with pockets, the pocket for the id, and the place for money- i think there's an extra flap in this one. but I love it- i'm making another one. and don't use any other brand because they're usually way too thin. and glue on them gets weird.

yeah. i read a couple books with them in it, and if you take a square piece of tape 3.5 inches long, and fold it over with about 1/8 of it sticking out, you can tape it on and make 2 pockets. and then fold another square over it with another 1/8 inch on top and bottom, you got 3 pockets (or 4 :-D). found in DUCTAGAMI: THE ART OF THE TAPE.
i thought it was pretty cool, its kinda hard to get it smooth but it was very easy and i enjoyed making it with red duck tape!!! :)
These directions were hardly even basic, I started making these walletts with my cubscouts 2 yrs ago with no instructions, and they came out great, the boys loved the camo tape we used on the outside. Another way to get them real flat when closed is before you fold it while still a square is to make a 1/8" - 1/4" wide cut from the middle of one side. Then pull the notch edges together and tape it shut. I have also made the photo sleeve things out of clear packing tape.
I tried making this and it was hard at first but i got the hang of it and im able to sell them now and it is a good money maker.

So I didn't learn through this site but I only use DuckBrand Ducktape and i've made and sold handfulls of wallets. My most recent being a special wallet for me, its 7.5 x 12 inches and is standard grey with about 15 card slits and enough space for paperwork. I'd never change brands, DuckBrand Ducktape for life.
It only teaches you how to make the actual wallet, no pockets. It is not like it is in the picture.

This is a great start and youtube would help a beginner. If you make one, and use it, you will eventually find black gunk for the adhesive, which will ruin any cards and stick to the money. the best way to solve this it to line everything in clear packaging tape. This also allows the wallet to last longer. You may have trouble with bubbles, but that is nothing that a fresh exacto knife can't handle.
I've had mine scence 3rd grade!They are extreamly durable and even better with card pockets

I can make really awesome duct tape wallets. if you want to put a design on it stick some duct tape on cardboard (wihtout pressing hard) and cut it with a exacto knife.
I make my wallets a bit different. I like mine a lot better. It fits girls better.

i learned how to make duct tape wallets a while back and have sold about 500$ in duct tape products already...this wallet is simple and im not trying to hate on it, i mean it is a good wallet for a beginner but it has a few problems, this wallet would easily fold and have lots of crinkles in it and since there is no tape on the inside of the sides the money would stick...also it has no card holders or an id holder so its no good if you have any...i have made over 100 wallets already, some plain alot with designs rangging from sesame street to disney characters to stenils, letters you name it... i plan to start a website and will post the adress when i get it running

i made like 20 wallets already. o ya and when i was stocking up on "duck" tape i brought lots of colors but i got a silver but i don't thing it was duck brand because when u unrolled to use some it had a thing on the sticky thing to peel off and i found out all it was was tin foil with sticky stuff under it it was really cool tho. btw thanks for all the awesome "duck" tape hahaha

first of all duck brand is awsome!!! but second.... seven inches hasnt worked very well for me.... none of my credit cards will fit in it so i bumped it up to 8 inches which is working muh better!!!!
I put a cute design on the front. But i failed on the inside and accidentally made the gift card slot too small!!!

Duck Brand duct tape is the only brand i use! I use 7 3/4 inches instead of seven. the person that originally got me into duct tape stuff is ducttapestuff on youtube. he has how to do wallets, bookbags, purses, folders, and other cool stuff like that. but i love this website its really cool
To make pockets, you take your drivers license or credit card and cut pieces that size, so you have little drivers license size walls, line it up where you want them, and tape the sides down. There's a few different ways to do it, but you can experiment and find your preferred way. :)
i made mine last fall and it works great...they are really durable cause it went through the was once or twice

I love my duck tape wallet I made it a while ago and if you spend a good amount of time on it it can be just as good or better as a store bought wallet. The only reason this isn't all 5 stars is because some people had forgotten to put 5 stars because there weren't any and they said they loved it.

If you want to have a coin pocket take a Ziplock baggy and cut it to size, put Duck Tape on it and tape it to the back of the wallet. It creates a nice coin pocket and an additional pocket behind. :)
You cant make it 4 strips of tape wide more like 4 in. and you don't tell us how to make pockets. i make my own wallets and already know how to make debit card slips, but what if you did not know how and this was your first time. You would not know how the heck to do this. And you have to make two sheets and tape them together, if you only put one then you will have no place to put you cash.

Noticed someone posted a problem with the scissors getting sticky. Solution: I use a baby oil type stuff on mine before I start. Just use a cotton ball to wipe the blades every so often and they don't get the sticky build up on them and cut much better.
It looks like a lot of work. But everyone seems to like it. I'll give it a try!
Easy fun holds alot of money
This is sort of how I make my wallets. Mine are like clutch bags. I use a sandwich ziplock bag, fold it over, so that it's smaller than how a purse is, and put any color of you choice of duck tape on it. Wollah!

I made one, then I added a place for cards, it has a splitter on it (not in it) to keep cards seperated, it has a place for money and on the inside are all my secret passwords and stuff, so ppl won't find them!
I made one like this with out the pockets and i found easier if you use a dollor bill to measure it.

He has great wallet and card holder tutorials as well as other tutorials, contests, collections videos, and also vids of him at the duct tape festival in Avon, OH.
This is a great activity!!! i just created a ducktivity and it still is reviewing it, but i hope it gets in. its a really cool bracelet and when you put it on it looks lyk spikes. pretty cool, huh?

I knew how to make a duck tape wallet. It's just I made the pockets different.... it's way easier to learn on youtube!!!! WAY EASIER!!!! this is how i made a thing for ur ID: i used packing tape its clear so it worked! but b warned PACKIGN TAPE IS HHHAAARRRDDDD HHHAAARRRRRDDDD SUPER HARD to use!! but it worked in the end!:P

An easy way to make an ID and credit card holder is to get one of those cheap folding plastic business card holders that quick-print places have and hand out with print jobs or just for walking in. It makes a great "frame" around which to stick duct tape, and the time to create the finished product is cut greatly.

omg i made one then i figured out that it would stick together then i was smothing it out with my scissors and then it ripped i was so sadci was like aw man but any ways chat me!!!!!! i am home alone because im sick and watching mickey mouse clubhouse there isnt anything good :(

woah wait that is just a mini wallet because my friend made one out of hello kitty duck tape and black duck tape so and i make flower pens and sell them for $2.50 and they are the bomb.com and another thing don`t copy someone elses idea.

Hi, Thanks for putting a link on how to make a wallet because I used to make them a certain way that looked really stupid so this should help.
Use an exacto knife instead of scissors. Works sssoo much better! :)

I make my ducktape sheet 9in. wide and 7.5in. long (up and down). They turn out a little bigger so you can fit bigger credit card slots and cash in them.

i liked but i figured it myself reading it gets really confusing when you can not picture it a video or some pictures would be nice
