How to Make a Duct Tape Holiday Ornament

Ducktivity provided by Duck® Brand

It’s time to duck the halls! Use duct tape to create a unique gift or decoration this holiday season. This beginner craft is quick and easy to complete.

Skill Level

Beginner

Approximate Crafting Time

5 minutes

Supplies and Tools

• Duck® brand duct tape (green, red, white)
• Cutting board
• 3, 3 inch diameter foam balls
• 3 pipe cleaners red, green, and white

Optional:
• Utility knife
• Cutting board

Directions

Step 1

Cover each foam ball in either red, green or white duct tape squares. For our 3 inch diameter foam ball, each square should be about 1 inch, but the size of your squares may vary based on the size of the foam ball used.

Step 2

Lay a few strips of duct tape onto your cutting board sticky-side down and cut them into squares, or hand tear them to size (about 2 inches by 2 inches). One by one, lightly pinch the middle of each square and stick it to one of the foam balls. This will give the ornaments a crinkled look. Continue placing crinkled pieces all over the foam ball until it is completely covered.

Step 3

Take your pipe cleaner (any color) and stick one end into the ball. From about 1 inch above the insertion point, bend the pipe cleaner down toward the base to create a loop. Wrap the excess pipe cleaner around the base of the loop, and then place the other end of the pipe cleaner into the middle of the wrapped section to hide the end.
