Directions
Step 1
Textbook
Invisible tape
Brown paper grocery bag
Scissors
Your favorite color(s) of duct tape (Duck® brand duct tape comes in 20 colors!)
Embellishments of your choice (stick-on gems, stickers, permanent markers, paint, etc.)
Step 2
Cut open the brown paper bag along one seam (from top to bottom) and then cut off the bottom (base) of the bag. Lay it out flat on your work surface.
Step 4
Cover the paper bag book cover with your favorite color of duct tape.
· Be sure to pull strips long enough to cover the book from side to side or top to bottom, depending on which direction you choose.
· The tape should be long enough to wrap around the inside of the book to cover the paper bag flaps, making the cover look seamless.
· Be careful not to tape to the inside of the book, as this may cause damage when the cover is removed at the end of the school year.
Step 5
Then, get creative! Use multiple colors to create unique patterns or add your favorite embellishments. It’s easy to write on duct tape, too!
*Create a covered notebook to match. Simply cover your notebook with the same pattern as your book cover.
Step 7
Fold the paper up along the top and bottom of the book. Cut slits in the bag at the binding of the book to make it easy to fold.

If you are hard-core you wont use the papper bag. It's not that hard with out the bag, and it is much cooler. Bags are for wimps.

Uhh Chuck? Bags aren't for wimps. My school book costs seventy-five bucks, so I'm sure as heck not going to put tape all over it

Good idea. I think that it would be cooler to make duck tape fabric with the design on it and form that into a notebook cover instead of using a paper bag. I'm going to try it soon and maybe even give directions. It would be more water-proof and 100% duck tape.

good idea. i like the way that u can reuse them, and they wont stay there forever. (i get my textbooks from the school, and i have to return them at the end of the year, so my teachers would kill me if i covered it in duck tape) :)
- craftyduckgurl
- Date Added: 04/13/2011 12:03:00

There is actually an easier way to do this! All you do is just get a book sock and put the duck tape on that or just put the duck tape on the book.. anyways, it's a great idea! :)
- I?DUCKTAPE!mwah!
- Date Added: 07/01/2011 07:50:00

That's really nice 'cause they look coolio and I would either kill the book or not be able to tell the difference without them!!!

Oh cool, I was scanning through the instructions and I was really confused with the brown paper bag part and suff, but then I realized that my mom did that for a couple of my books last year, and that all you have to do is cover it with duck tape, so now I'm really excited to try it.

Just want to say I just found out about this site today, and back when I was in 7th grade I thought of this idea, and made it with just duct tape and nothing else, now I'm in 10th grade and still using the cover, right now for my math book lol. If you make a duct tape book cover in 6th grade it will last you till you graduate.....most likely

I made some out of just duck tape. You take two pieces of duck tape "fabric" the size of the front and back of your book, connect them at the spine (sticky side to sticky side) and then create the flaps to keep it on the book. It's not hard, only takes me 15 minutes, and the tape doesn't stick to the book! I like it a lot better than the bag idea

My sunday school teacher did this with us 4 our bibles. The paper bag part looks hard but it is actually pretty easy.(plus using abag uses less duct tape so u can make more with less roles:)But u can cover the sticky part with packing tape if u don't have a bag.
