Duck Tape® is inspiration for this season’s Unconventional Materials ChallengeAVON, Ohio (February 21, 2013) – Duck Tape® has gone from fix-all to high fashion. On Thursday, March 7, Duck® brand duct tape will be featured on the Lifetime series “Project Runway” during one of the most anticipated moments of every season: the Unconventional Materials Challenge. Inspired by the growing trend of Duck Tape® fashions and more, this episode will test the designers’ skills as they transform Duck Tape® into chic, runway-worthy styles.
During the challenge, designers will team up to create looks that not only illustrate the versatility of Duck Tape® and its increasing popularity as a stylish design medium, but that also embrace the vibrant Duck Tape® palette that consists of more than 150 colors and prints. All in an effort to catch the eye of judges Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia and Zac Posen.
“Duck Tape® has come a long way in the crafting and fashion world,” said Bill Kahl, executive vice president of marketing at ShurTech Brands, LLC, the company that markets Duck Tape®. “It has become a remarkable design medium, with countless Duck Tape® enthusiasts using it to create everything from handbags to headbands, and we continue to see this trend grow as our palette of colors and prints evolves. This is a great partnership and we’re anxious to see the final creations.”
Tune in Thursday, March 7, at 9:00 p.m. ET/8:00 p.m. CT on Lifetime to watch the designers style with this unique material – and find out who “makes it work” and who hears that fateful “Auf Wiedersehen.”
