AVON, Ohio (March 7, 2012) – There’s one night a year when all high school students hope to make the best-dressed list: prom night. Whether they wear outrageous accessories, wild prints, colorful fabrics or sky-high shoes, most prom-goers want to make a statement as they dance the night away. Though finding a unique dress or terrific tux in stores can be a challenge, it’s easy for students to create their own original prom night look—they just need a few rolls of duct tape and some creativity! With Duck Tape® brand duct tape’s more than 140 colors and prints, high school students can construct glamorous prom night attire that will really “stick” with them – plus have a chance to earn a $5,000 scholarship for college.

The 12th-annual Duck® brand Stuck at Prom® Scholarship Contest starts today. The contest invites high school students from the United States and Canada to use duct tape to create outstanding, one-of-a-kind formalwear for prom. Rewarding participants for putting their creativity to use, this unique scholarship contest reminds students that imagination and personal expression are important.

For the first place winners, a $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to each of the students, as well as the school that hosted the prom. The second place award is $3,000 for each of the students and for the school that hosted the prom, and both the students in third place and the school that hosted the prom will receive $2,000 each. The remaining seven couples in the judge-selected Top 10 will each receive a $500 scholarship, as well as $500 for the school that hosted the prom. In addition to the Top 10 winners, six additional participants will receive Honorable Mentions and a Duck Tape® prize pack for best purse, corsage, shoes, tie, jewelry and prop.

Interested participants can enter at StuckatProm.com starting today. Couples are required to submit at least one photo showing them wearing their duct tape prom formalwear and complete all required registration information. Contest registration closes on Wednesday, June 13, 2012.  A panel of judges will choose 10 finalist couples based on workmanship, originality, use of colors, accessories and use of duct tape.

After the judges weigh in, the public’s votes will make the final call.  The Top 10 finalists will be narrowed down to first, second and third place winners during a period of online voting, which will open on Monday, June 18, 2012, and end on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Winners will be announced on or around Friday, July 13, 2012.

Accepted entries and official contest rules can be viewed at StuckatProm.com.
