Go from boring to beautiful in a snap

Whether you’re sitting down to enjoy a conversation with guests or serving coffee and dessert, entertaining usually begins and ends in the living room. The following affordable decorating ideas from the Duck® brand will help you transition a bland living room into a vibrant place where guests can feel welcome and you can feel proud.

Step 1

No one wants to have rings of water from the condensation off a guest’s drink left on their furniture.  Use non-adhesive shelf liner to create coasters – your table’s finish will be protected and the non-slip feature of the liner will help keep the glass from sliding.

Step 2

For living rooms with hardwood floors, add colorful scatter rugs to brighten up the room and to protect floors from mud and other “unwanted” visitors. Make sure to use a rug gripper to help keep rugs in place and to avoid a slipping hazard.

Step 3

Your surroundings are waiting to be admired – give your windows a quick makeover so your guests can enjoy it.  Give the window frame and pane a fresh coat of paint, making sure to protect the glass and walls from splatters.

Step 4

Freshen up your living room by painting it a bright color.  You can also add texture and style to your walls by faux painting with items such as sponges or rags.  Complete this task neatly and quickly by using painting tapes to mask and protect areas you don’t want painted.
