To keep the mounting putty at its best, store it in an airtight container and away from direct heat.
We would not recommend using the mounting putty on a flat or matte painted surface.
Knead a piece of mounting putty into a soft, round ball and roll the ball in a circular motion over the residue. The remaining putty will be picked up.
Slide a piece of fishing line or dental floss under the foam backing, trying to stay as close to the surface as possible. Once most of the foam backing is removed, we recommend using Duck® brand Adhesive Remover to help remove any residue that is left behind. Remember to read instructions before using this product.
Pull the tape until it is clear.
No, our Duck® Brand Bubble Cushioning Wrap is not anti-static.
Always place the bubble side closest to the item, and the smooth side on the outside of the wrapping. That way the maximum absorption from any unforeseen impact is on the side closest to the item to be protected.
Follow these 3 easy steps to loading your packaging tape gun:
1. Place the 3” core size packaging tape on the hub of the tape gun with the adhesive pointing down towards the handle base.
2. Pull the end of the tape between the tape guide and roller, remove the blade safe cover shielding serrated blade.
3. Extend tape to use.
Apply at least 3 strips of packaging tape to the ends and bottom sides of the container. Tape should be applied to the box where the flaps meet in the center, top and bottom so the middle and two edge seams are sealed.
Packaging tapes should be stored in a cool, dry place for the best longevity of the product.
To thread the tape into the dispenser, the key is to pull the tape under the “guides” and extend tape past the cutting area.
We would not recommend using our carpet tapes in carpet-to-carpet applications.
If you have a lot of residue you can heat it using a hair dryer and use something with a soft edge to scrape it up. To remove any leftover residue you can use WD40 or Murphy’s Oil Soap.
Cut the tape ½ way across and then rip it with your hands. You can also poke through the top of the liner using a straight pin.
No, the Hold-It for Rugs® is for use on most hard floor surfaces, including vinyl, tile, hardwood and laminate
The more pronounced the ridges on the floor the less effective the Hold-It for Rugs® may be on a rubber floor.
The best way to remove the liner is to pull the length of tape from the roll and, with a pair of scissors, make a small cut (don’t cut all the way through) and then tear the rest of the way with your hands. The edges of the tape will now be rigid and you will be able to see where the liner and tape begin to separate from one another.
Depending on how hot your dryer vent may get, there are two different HVAC tapes that have different temperature ratings. Our HVAC tape for fiberglass ducts has a temperature range of -20 F to 260 F. Our HVAC tape for flexible ducts has a temperature range of -35 F to 210 F.
Yes, you can use the metal repair tapes on copper pipes.
Yes, to a point.
The metal repair tapes are designed to create a vapor barrier, but will not pass a water submersion test.
The paint should be fully cured before applying the painter’s tape.
Due to the variety of stains available, we would recommend testing first in an inconspicuous area.
You should remove the tape immediately after painting.
We would recommend testing first.
The natural latex adhesive on masking tape ages and dries out from prolonged exposure to the sun’s rays, heat or improper storage.
First, try running a hair dryer or heat gun over the tape backing to warm and soften the adhesive. After a minute or two, you can peel the tape away. If the masking tape continues to stick to the surface, saturate the rubber adhesive with solvent and let it soak in for five to 10 minutes. Place a rag or towel over your index finger and rub the adhesive in a circular motion until it comes off.
For paper-backed tapes, like masking tape, you can apply the solvent directly to the tape and let it soak in. Scrape the tape off with a plastic scraper or a stiff-bristled brush.
The key to removing rubber adhesive is to let the solvent do the work for you. The longer you let it soak, the easier it is to remove the adhesive. Five to 10 minutes is usually enough time. You can use Duck® brand Adhesive Remover to help remove any residue that is left behind, but remember to read instructions before using this product.
The outdoor window kits have a stronger adhesive that has a lower service temperature so they are able to withstand the exposure to the cold weather elements and stay on for the whole cold weather season.
The Roll-On ® Window Kits come with a pre-taped edge for easier window kit installation.
No, this is not an intended use of this product.
No, this is not a recommended application of this product.
The rope caulk is intended for indoor use only.
You would need to remove the AC cover before running your AC.
Yes, this product is intended for use outdoors.
The difference is with the construction of the foam. Closed seal sponge tape uses a foam that will not let moisture or air pass through it providing a more complete barrier. Open foam will let moisture and some air through depending on the compression. Open foam is ideal for the use around window AC units as it will allow any moisture produced by the unit to evaporate without causing damage or allowing mold to grow.
The full assortment of Duck® Weatherization products can be found on store shelves from Labor Day through January or February. There are a variety of insulating seals, window kits and other accessories that are available all year giving you the opportunity to help keep the cool air in your home.
This tape is recommended for use on painted wood, finished/varnished wood, aluminum and vinyl.
The two most common reasons are that the surface wasn't clean before you applied the tape or the surface is too cold for the tape to stick. The surface should be 40 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer to apply the tape. Also, use general purpose cleaner or alcohol based cleaner to ensure the surface is clean. Make sure that the surface temperature is at least 40 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer to apply the tape.
It is not recommended to use the outdoor window kid inside mainly because of the tape used for each application. The outdoor kit tape is much stronger and, when used inside, it remains soft. Also, the tape may peel off paint and varnish or leave a very sticky residue when the tape is removed.
Follow these steps to help the tape stick to cold surfaces:
1. Heat the surface with a hair dryer. When temperatures drop below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, adhesives tend to harden and won't stick
2. Firmly press the tape on the surface before removing the release liner.
3. After removing the release liner, heat the tape with the hair dryer to soften the adhesive.
4. Position the plastic film over the window. Firmly press the plastic along the tape to secure it in place. Be careful not to over-shrink the film because this will put too much pressure on the tape and it will pull away from the window.
Before pulling off the plastic film, use a hair dryer to heat up the area where the double-sided tape is - this will soften the tape's adhesive. Once you've softened the adhesive pull off the plastic film. To remove any residue that may be left behind, let Duck® brand Adhesive Remover soak over the residue for about five to ten minutes before wiping clean.
When installing your EPDM Weatherstrip Seals, first measure the gap that you are trying to seal in your doorway. The flat edge should be against the vertical or horizontal framing for the door to shut against the thicker part of the seal.
Duck Tape® is made with a heavy-duty adhesion and is not recommended for use on painted or wallpapered walls.
Duck Tape® may leave a residue if it is used on clothing. To remove the residue you can use hot or cold treatment as you would to remove gum. Place ice over the residue until it hardens and pick it off. Or you can place a paper bag over the residue and iron over it using low heat.
No, Duck Tape® is not machine washable.
Our Duck Tape® is not latex free.
We share your enthusiasm for our older Duck Tape® designs, but unfortunately, we need to make room on the shelves for our new colors and designs that were developed off feedback from fans just like you!
Unfortunately, there is a complicated process to creating the printed tapes. However, to keep it easy for everyone to decide which color/style they want, we’ve adjusted the lengths so the rolls can be sold at around the same price for each one.

For general adhesive removal, we recommend Duck® brand Adhesive Remover. Remember to read instructions before using this product.
All surfaces should be clean and free of dust or dirt before placing any tape on them. You will want to dust the surface and then wipe the area down with rubbing alcohol. However, rubbing alcohol can dull certain surfaces, so try it on a small, inconspicuous area before applying on a large scale.
No, Duck Tape® is not waterproof, but water resistant. This means the tape cannot be consistently submerged in water.

We would not recommend using the shelf liner under rugs to keep them in place.
For direct food contact, we recommend Clear Classic® or Diamond Grip® shelf liner.
Yes.
The smoother side of the shelf liner should face up and the rougher side should face down, as the roughness allows for the liner to grip.
BPA is not intentionally added to our shelf liners.
To get the longest life out of your liner, wash it in warm, sudsy water, rinse clean and air-dry. You may also wipe the liner clean with a damp cloth. Be sure the liner is completely dry before putting items back on top of it in your cupboards or drawers.
Easy Liner® contains chemicals called plasticizers. When the plasticizers used in the liner come into contact with the chemicals in lacquer and urethane finishes, a permanent bond can form. The liner could stick to the surface or lift pieces of the finish upon removal of the liner.
If the wood looks shiny and varnished, it probably has a lacquered or urethane finish. If you are uncertain, refer to the manufacturer or who finished your cabinets or furniture to make sure.
Easy Liner® is safe for many surfaces, including bare wood, painted wood, wood that is stained but not varnished, Formica, glass and/or metal.
Most Easy Liner® products are made of a polyester mesh that is coated with PVC vinyl and baked in an oven. Smooth Top® Easy Liner® is a solid vinyl sheet laminated to a non-slip PVC vinyl backing.
Easy Liner® products do not contain latex.
Easy Liner® products are safe to use in the areas where drinking glasses, plates, utensils and packaged foods are stored. Easy Liner® products should not be ingested by people or pets.
Easy Liner® is made of vinyl and can melt. It should not be exposed to open flame or temperatures exceeding 170 degrees Fahrenheit.
If the inner portion of the roll is wrinkled, put the liner in your clothes dryer with a bath towel(s) and tumble dry for five to 10 minutes on a warm setting. Remove the liner while still warm and lay on a flat surface. Smooth out the wrinkles with your hands and let the liner cool before putting in cupboards or drawers.
This liner would stick best to a solid, non porous surface.
Peel & Stick Laminate works best on smooth and solid surfaces.
The adhesive is a permanent adhesive.
The laminate may leave behind an adhesive residue if removal is attempted. Use an adhesive remover to remove any residue.
We would not recommend using the peel and stick shelf liner on a wall surface.
Peel & Stick Laminate is not heat resistant or approved for direct food contact.
We would not recommend using this liner near heating appliances.
Wash the mat in cold or warm water in your washing machine with a few towels to keep the mat from floating. After washing, hang your mat to dry in an open space to allow air to move freely around both sides of the mat. Do not put the mat back into your bathtub until it is dry.
If your mat is changing colors, this might indicate that you are not allowing the mat to be thoroughly dried after each use. For best results, remove your mat from the tub and hang dry in an open space, allowing air to move freely around both sides of the mat. Do not put the mat back into your bathtub when it is wet.
Duck® brand bath mats are not intended for use on any type of textured surface, including ceramic tile or any type of pre-textured tubs.
First, be sure you do not have a textured surface on the bottom of your tub. Second, many cleaners will leave behind an invisible film on the bottom of your tub, which causes the suction cups not to hold properly. After cleaning your tub, wipe the bottom down with rubbing alcohol to remove any film left behind by the cleaner.
Bath mats cannot be cut to size as the suction cups are purposely arranged with safety in mind.
Follow these steps to remove your old tub treads:
1. Completely drain the water from your bathtub.
2. Warm the tub treads with a hair dryer to loosen the adhesive.
3. With a flat tool (e.g. putty knife), slowly lift the end of the tub treads until they are completely removed. You may need to stop and repeat the warming process as you work to lift the tread (the softer the adhesive, the easier it will be to lift).
If there is any residue left behind in your tub, we recommend using Duck® Brand Adhesive Remover. Be sure to read the instructions on the bottle prior to use. Wipe your tub with rubbing alcohol prior to putting in your new treads.
No. Both the mat and the suction cups are made of PVC vinyl.
